Baked Goods and Ice Cream

I was at Daiso the other day and decided to pick up some of their air dry clay. I know that other people use it for deco-den but I had never bought it before. I don't find it as easy to work with as polymer clay because it can dry out as you work with it and it does not have as smooth of a finish but I like it a lot! It is supper lightweight and fluffy! Perfect for making ice cream scoops. The white is really white and easy to color with my drawing chalks.

I also made a bunch of doughnuts this week. I used the air dry clay for some of them because I like how lightweight it is but ended up going back to polymer clay because it is easier to sculpt.

Doughnuts are always fun to make...especially when it comes to decoration! 

Cupcakes:

Oh cupcakes...I still haven't settled on a way of making cupcakes that I really like. These turned out ok but I'm still not satisfied.  I want to be able to make the base out of clay and then frost them with silicone but I am having a surprisingly hard time sculpting a realistic looking base. Thus the cupcake adventure continues...

I also made some chocolate sandwich cookies for fun...you can never go wrong with some little oreos ^^

Pastel Sweets!

I loves pastel colors! They make me feel happy and girly! Like I've mentioned before I like using bake clay for getting nice colors. I use a combination of oil paint and shaved drawing chalk to color my clay which works nicely and doesn't affect how the clay bakes. I also find this easier than painting the clay after it bakes.

I was just kinda playing around when I made these but I think I really like my little pastel candies ^^

I think I finally found my groove when making macaroons. I used a new method and I really like how they turned out...much more so then how I was doing them before. For the filling I used silicone chalk that I colored with shaved drawing chalk which gave me a lot of control over the tone and brightness

Hobby Lobby is a Dangerous Place

I think I will have to limit how often I can go to hobby lobby...there is too much temptation there. I went in for more clay and left with way more then that. I ended up getting some air dray clay and some paper clay as well. As I said before I've been using pretty much only Sculpey. It's still what is most comfortable for me but I still want to try other kinds as well. I ended up spending most of today fiddling around with the air dry clay I bought. I'm not a huge fan of painting my pieces after they are set so I usually color my clay before sculpting it. This is a bit harder with the air dry clay and I can't get supper vibrant colors so I probably won't use it for things like fruit but I think that it will work well for making baked goods.

 I find making berries to be quite therapeutic

In other news, I got my colored hot glue sticks in the mail today and some blank phone cases yesterday...I just have to pick up some more silicone and I can start making up some deco-den phone cases! 

Some Sweet Goodies and Sushi

Hello all. So I thought I'd post some pictures of some the things I have been working on. Up until today I've been working with bake polymer clay pretty much exclusively since that is what I am most familiar with. These are all first attempts but for the most part I'm pretty happy with how they all turned out.

Thus Begins My Deco Den Adventures

I suppose I should say a bit about myself to start out. I have been crafting pretty much since I can remember so I am always on the look out for a fun new project. I discovered deco-den while I was studying abroad in Japan and fell in love! I have been fiddling around with it for a little while now. I started off just wanting to make myself a phone case but have found it to be far too much fun to stop there. I just graduated from college in May and decided now would be a good time to dive in further. Thus my journey begins. I am in the process of getting things together to open an Etsy store to sell my deco-den creations. I am really excited and I hope that I will be able to continue growing within the deco-den hobby! I love making things with my hands as well as all things kawaii so deco-den has been a good fit as well as an excellent stress reliever.

These are some some things that I have done. the bottom case is the one I am using now (it's getting a bit worn down so I need to make a new one) 

There is still so much for me to learn but that is what makes it so much fun! I just took some pictures of stuff I have been working on this week so I'll put those up soon (I'm not done unpacking so I'm not sure where my camera cord is) Anyways welcome to my adventures in the world of deco-den!
